Introduction and Data Controller

I am Matteo Carrara, a micro-entrepreneur registered in France (SIRET: 928362144). I am the “Data Controller” for the information processed through the ChatCraft for Minecraft mobile application.

This Privacy Policy explains how I collect, use, and protect your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Information We Collect and Why

A. Information You Provide (On-Device Processing)

To provide the core service (connecting to Minecraft servers), the app processes your Minecraft credentials.

  • Minecraft/Microsoft Tokens: When you log in, the app communicates directly with Mojang/Microsoft servers.
  • Storage: Your account email, access tokens, and refresh tokens are encrypted and stored only on your device or your private iCloud.
  • Our Access: I (the developer) never see, receive, or store your passwords or tokens on my own servers.
  • Legal Basis: Performance of a Contract (Art. 6.1.b GDPR).

B. Automatically Collected Data (Third-Party SDKs)

The app uses third-party Software Development Kits (SDKs) to function, improve, and monetize. These SDKs collect data such as your IP address and device identifiers (IDFA for iOS, AAID for Android).

  1. Firebase and Crashlytics (Google): Used for app stability and usage analytics. It helps me see if the app crashes and which features are used most.
  2. AdMob (Google): Used to display advertisements. It uses device identifiers to serve ads and prevent fraud.
  3. RevenueCat: Used to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. It tracks your “App User ID” and purchase history but does not see your credit card details.
  4. iCloud (Apple): If enabled on iOS, it syncs your accounts and servers across your own devices.

Legal Basis:

  • Consent: For personalized advertising and analytics.
  • Legitimate Interest: For crash reporting and security.

3. Cookie and Consent Management

We use the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent for data collection in the European Economic Area (EEA).

  • Personalized Ads: Only shown if you explicitly “Accept.”
  • Opt-Out: You can change your consent at any time via the app Settings > Privacy > Edit consent for personalized ads.

4. Where is Data Stored? (International Transfers)

Since we use providers like Google and Apple, your data (IP addresses, device IDs) may be transferred to and processed in the United States. These providers use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework to ensure your data remains protected.

5. Data Retention

  • On-Device Data: Minecraft credentials and settings remain on your device as long as the app is installed.
  • Third-Party Data:
Firebase and AdMob data are typically deleted or anonymized within 9 to 18 months of collection, depending on their specific policies.

6. Your Rights Under GDPR

As an EU resident, you have the following rights:

  • Right of Access: You can see what data the app has (mostly visible within the app settings).
  • Right to Erasure (“Right to be Forgotten”): You can delete all your data by uninstalling the app and clearing your iCloud/Google Drive backups.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: You can opt-out of ads/analytics in the settings.
  • Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to contact the CNIL (France) if you feel your data is being handled incorrectly.

8. How to Delete Your Data

  • Android: Go to Settings > Apps > ChatCraft > Storage > Clear Data. Then uninstall the app.
  • iOS: Delete the app from your home screen. To delete iCloud sync data, go to iOS Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > ChatCraft > Delete Data.

9. Changes to This Policy

I may update this policy from time to time. I will notify you of changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
